Since its inception, Moreau has demonstrated remarkable adaptability to the region’s evolving needs. Founded in 1977 by Jean-Yves Moreau, the company initially operated from a home office until 1983. Driven by a passionate team, Mr. Moreau decided to relocate to 187 Gamble Ouest Avenue, establishing a workshop better suited to the company’s expanding service offerings.

Over the years, the growing workforce and increasing number of projects have led Moreau to move its facilities to Rouyn-Noranda’s industrial sector. Since 1988, the company has been located at 160 Boulevard Industriel, a strategic address that has enabled several successive expansions. These developments have diversified the company’s activities and increased the inventory of equipment required for increasingly complex projects.

In 2010, Moreau annexed an adjacent building to accommodate new offices and workshops, supporting team growth and better meeting client expectations. Through controlled growth and infrastructure expansion, J.Y. Moreau Électrique has established itself as a leader in the construction sector, offering a comprehensive range of integrated services and managing projects from design to completion. The headquarters now covers over 80,000 square meters, about 15 American football fields, thanks to the progressive acquisition of neighboring buildings, consolidating all services on a single site. Extensive outdoor areas with storage structures ensure year-round protection of materials and equipment. As of 2025, Moreau has more than a dozen buildings, 60 garage doors, and 50 pedestrian doors. The site also houses a significant fleet of vehicles, including light vehicles, heavy trucks, and specialized machinery, all essential for the success of large-scale projects.

With a modern workshop equipped with high-precision technologies, the local team efficiently meets clients’ technical and operational requirements. A major milestone occurred in 2014 when Moreau acquired Beroma, relocating the workshop to Beroma’s facilities. This move diversified the service offering and optimized equipment, enhancing the branch’s production capacity and versatility. Today, the site brings together a team of about 40 professionals, including project managers and welders certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). All workshop members are committed to maintaining the highest quality standards, ensuring safety in execution, and promoting continuous improvement.
